    Common wrong past forms

Irregular verbs have special past forms: bought not buyed, went not goed, ate not eated.

Do not use past tense verbs with future time words like tomorrow or next week.

Past time expressions need past tense

After rigid past time words (yesterday, ago, last week…), use past tense verbs: I went, not I go. Flexible markers like every day or today do not force past.

By the time … + past perfect

When something was already true before a past point, use the past perfect: By the time we arrived, the movie had already started.
